Beaumont, Hope Marguerite Chenin Blanc 2024 Bot River 17 ++/20
The 2024 is immediately more open and gregarious and voluptuous. Praline and succulent stone fruit. Greengage and russet apple and rustic pear and allspice. There is so much here, you could get lost in it. And then the finish is crunchy, nutty with a touch of sweetness, like praline brittle. Just a baby. Hold it back. (TC) Drink: 2027 – 2035

40% Chenin Blanc, 30% Sauvignon and 30% Colombard.
Not at all aromatic. Kind of like a splash in a rock pool. Salt and lime and bracing and fun. Great structure. But it tastes and feels as though it’s a wine that’s waiting in the wings, not quite ready to be the lead actor. (TC) Drink: 2027 – 2033
Beaumont, Raoul’s Red 2023 Bot River 16.5/20
Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre ‘plus allsorts’! A smashable, ‘drink in tumblers’ kind of wine. Splash and play. A wine you could stick in carafes, a wine that if it was a person it would be the first one on the dance floor and the first one belting out karaoke on the table. Wild berries, cheeky little tannins like Velcro on cherries on caraway. (TC) Drink: 2025 – 2027
Beaumont, Jackals River Pinotage 2023 Bot River 17/20
Pinotage like this reminds me of whose child Pinotage is. The wine is remarkably Pinot-like, although with deeper fruit. Blueberry and raspberry wine gums. Cinsault’s smoky stone and thyme. The tannins are slightly drying but in a good way, like a lick from a kitten’s tongue. (TC) Drink: 2025 – 2031
Beaumont, Far Side Mourvèdre 2022 Bot River 16.5/20
Fragrant and kind of light and tiptoe, especially for Mourvèdre, but those tannins have incredible strength. Fresh and crisp; blood-orange, sweet and sharp acidity. It’s the tannins you have to brace for! (TC) Drink: 2026 – 2032
