I am excited to announce the release of our much-anticipated New Baby 2023. Our ninth release of this no-rules white blend from our three oldest white vineyards. Only seven barrels produced. The 2023 is made up of 43% Chenin, 28.5% Colombar, and 28.5% Sauvignon Blanc. Beautifully fresh and energetic, with limey acidity to balance the texture of the wine. This is going to be a beautiful wine to watch evolve over the next few years. Very small production so make to get your hands on a bottle or two!
Interestingly, to give you a small insight into the ageing potential of this wine, we just got the results from a 10-year retrospective South African tasting in London last month. Beaumont New Baby 2015 secured the top score in the Cape White Blend category. The judges, including Jancis Robinson MW, Tim Atkin MW, Neal Martin (Vinous), Matthew Horsley (The Wine Society), Christina Rasmussen (Little Wine), Greg Sherwood MW, and Julie Shepperd (Decanter), commented that the New Baby 2015 was:
“an understated, intriguing white blessed with a fine texture and grip, building towards a substantial, rich finish. In its sweet spot for drinking but should hold for another three to five years. The group top wine of the flight.”
