Sebastian, Nici, Sophie, Leo & Henri

2nd Generation

Sebastian is the oldest son and a second generation Beaumont – a man with a passion for wine, fishing and surfing. After studying viticulture and oenology he joined the family business in 1999 and honed his skills on the farm as viticulturist initially, working alongside Raoul. During this time he assisted with the wine making under the guidance of Niels Verburg and Jayne. Five years later, in 2004, he completed his first vintage, was in charge of the wine making and soon established a standing as a Chenin Blanc aficionado. After receiving four 5 star ratings for Hope Marguerite, he earned the nickname, “The Chenin Dude”.

Nici, the daughter of Jayne’s school friend, met Sebastian many times during her family’s visits to South Africa and the farm. Her decision to work at Beaumont for a year after experiencing the Napa Valley and the wine department at Christies in London is nothing short of serendipitous. Exchanging not only careers, but also London for Bot River was a plan in the making since the day they met many harvests ago.

Recently, Sebastian and Nici took over the full running of the farm and its endeavours. Armed with the invaluable know-how of the past, a passion for the present and committed family support, the farm is poised for a fresh new chapter.

Sophie, Leo & Henri

3rd Generation

“I often get asked which wine is my favourite, to which I reply; they are like my children, you can’t choose one over the other. They are all unique, individual and special in their own ways.”

Sophie Isabella Beaumont
Sophie, is the first of the new generation. She loves surfing like her “pops” and swims like a fish under water. Sebastian feels that women often have a better sense of taste, a finer touch and more attention to detail when it comes to wine making, so although she claims now to want to join Nici in producing delicious food, this may change in years to come.

Leo, Raoul Balthazar Beaumont
Sophie’s younger brother Leo spends his afternoons playing tennis, water polo, running and hockey. He has inherited his granny’s artistic streak, but his main talent is his voice. If you are around the farm and hear loud singing coming from various places, this will most probably be Leo honing his skills.

Henri Aart Dangerfield Beaumont
Leo’s younger brother Henri has a true farmer soul. In case you’re looking for Henri, you will find him with a water hose in his hand and gumboots on his feet. He seems to be living up to his name both in looks and in spirit.
